Generations For Peace
The challenge
To create an initiative, under the patronage of HRH Prince Feisal and in his capacity as President of the Jordan Olympic Committee, that built upon the role of Jordan as a nation seeking peaceful resolution to conflict.
Our strategy
Working with HRH Prince Feisal and his JOC team, JTA helped to develop Generations For Peace, a ‘cascade’ initiative aimed at training leaders of youth in conflict areas in how to use sport to help bring together both sides of a conflict divide.
The outcome
Since 2007, the initiative has grown rapidly and now supports delegates and certified Generations For Peace Pioneers in 47 countries and territories. 526 delegates have been trained through the Generations For Peace Pioneer Certification Programme, at seven intensive 10-day camps. Cascading their learning and experience on to over 4,200 second and third generation Peace Pioneers and delegates, their Generations For Peace programmes have now touched the lives of 62,000 children.
JTA has been involved at all levels, from the development of the initiative to the editing of the training manuals and the training itself.
