Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC)
The challenge
When HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein was elected President of the Jordan Olympic Committee in 2003, he was quick to identify the role that sport could play in Jordanian society. In particular, Prince Feisal wanted to attract more sporting events to Jordan which would portray his country in a positive light. He appointed JTA to advise on the overall strategy for the development of sport in Jordan and the wider region.
Our strategy
JTA helped develop a bidding strategy for Jordan to host major international sports events with the objective of bolstering its global image, tapping into the lucrative tourist market and encouraging inward investment. JTA’s strategy was to target achievable events by focusing on Jordan’s geographical assets, existing contacts and organisational strengths.
The outcome
JTA’s strategy has resulted in Jordan bidding for, winning and hosting five world sports events over the last four years, including the IAAF World Cross Country Championships, and the IBSF World Snooker Championships. With JTA’s support, Jordan made history in becoming the first Arab country to host a round of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) in April 2008.
